visiting us today. The SMS Lacrosse family is an ideal place
for athletes to grow as both people and lacrosse players. As
the premier club lacrosse program in Southern Maryland, we
are constantly working to offer our athletes the best
experience possible. Since our start in almost a decade a go
we have had a tremendous amount of success in developing
players at the youth and high school level. Just take a
look at any lacrosse game in the area and you will find the
best players in that game have a connection to SMS.
In 2009 SMS HS players made up
8 of the 10 first team All-County, the only two
All-American’s in Southern Maryland and the only two players
in Southern Maryland to be selected for the MSLCA Free State
team (The top 44 players in all of Maryland). Every year
100% of SMS rising seniors are recruited to play in collage.
You can find SMS players at places like Hopkins, Princeton,
Towson, UMBC, Yale, Army, Washington College, Gettysburg,
Queens University of Charlotte and many others. Simply put,
if you want to be the best play with the best.
As lacrosse grows so will the
options for you when it comes to choosing a select team to
play for. We recognize that there are other start up teams
out there that want to sell you a product, but don’t be
fooled by promises. Our track record speaks for itself. Here
are some things that separate us from the pack.
Wide Talent Pool
- SMS teams are comprised of best players from Calvert, Anne
Arundel, Charles, St. Mary’s and P.G. Counties. A lacrosse
player wants the best teammates he can have regardless of a
player’s zip code or what high school he will feed into.
Our SMS lacrosse teams do not discriminate based on a line
on a map. If you can play and want to excel we have a spot
for you. Our only stipulation is that you are committed to
working to become the best lacrosse player you can be,
regardless of what high school will benefit from the skills
we help you develop.
National
Sponsorship-
SMS lacrosse is now sponsored by Harrow Sports. Our high
visibly in the spring National Premier Youth Lacrosse League
and the success of our select teams over our history of play
have paved the way for this partnership allowing SMS to
provide our youth lacrosse teams with gear that is truly
second to none. You will receive a fully sublimated custom
SMS Team uniform. Harrows’ custom SMS team gloves, a SMS
team fully sublimated custom performance t-shirt. And you
will have the ability to pick up top of the line Custom SMS
Cascade Pro 7 helmet for less then half the retail cost.
Professionalism
- Our coaching staff includes: Former and current college
lacrosse players; an Italian National Lacrosse team coach;
SMAC coach of the year; Washington Post All Metro Coach of
the Year; A former college lacrosse coach, MILL Coach of the
Year; US Lacrosse Coach of the Year, US Lacrosse Man of the
Year and former professional lacrosse players. The depth of
experience and knowledge is staggering. This means that our
players get coached up on the game inside and out.

Lacrosse is housed at The Calverton School in Huntingtown,
Maryland and has access to the schools premier Bermuda grass
fields. They are the best fields in the county and they are
ours to use.

SMS YOUTH LACROSSE HIGHLIGHTS
What is the SMS Experience All About:
Our goal is a comprehensive program focused on the
development of your child’s lacrosse skills. Other select
teams in the Southern Maryland are thrown together for the
summer, and do not offer the type of program we offer. Our
U11, U13 and U15 teams play together from February-November
and may also play in selected events after that. Our spring
teams play in the best youth lacrosse league in the country
and our summer and fall teams compete in the best
tournaments around. This is three seasons of premier
competition, with premier coaching at premiere venues. The
experience is second to none.
SMS Youth
Lacrosse Mission:
We are providing an opportunity to Southern Maryland youth
lacrosse players who excel at their sport the ability to
compete against and train with other players of their same
caliber for three seasons - spring, summer, and fall. SMS
U11, U13 and U15 Teams are for the elite lacrosse players
who want to prepare themselves to play at high school and
beyond. We welcome parents and players who share in our
vision of excellence and thirst for competition.
Membership in the Spring National Premier Youth Lacrosse
League
(www.NPYLL.com)
The NPYLL is composed of the top youth select teams from
Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. It is not a stretch
to say that this league is the top youth lacrosse league in
the country. This is why we are seeking the best youth
lacrosse players around. This league is part of what will
help your son prepare for the next level. Want proof?
Multiple 2009 SMS U15 lacrosse players and are now on D1,
DII and DIII college tracking list as HS freshmen?
Incredible but true! SMS is the only club program in
Southern Maryland invited to play in the NPYLL.
SMS vs. Recreational Lacrosse Leagues:
Some say our venture is contradictory to the mission of the
long standing and very successful recreational lacrosse
programs in the area, we say that is not true. Read any of
the area rec team websites and you will see they promote
themselves as venues where kids can learn and experience the
great game of lacrosse. We fully support and promote their
mission. There are many players that benefit from rec league
lacrosse. Our mission runs parallel to the rec leagues.
While they are introducing the game, we are taking the next
step and allowing the elite youth lacrosse players a venue
to advance their game, past the introductory steps. There
will be no slowing down practice because of players who are
just learning the game and have yet to perfect catching and
throwing. SMS teams are for the more advanced youth lacrosse
player and for the parent who sees their child’s lacrosse
ability and wants to support and nurture their development,
not watch your son stand on the sideline because the game is
out of hand and he has scored enough goals.

concerns. Running an elite program with the very best of
everything is not a cheap venture, but we believe that the
investment in the SMS lacrosse experience is well worth it.
Your return will be the development of your child’s game to
the level you could not imagine. Yes there are low cost
options out there, but be wise as you compare the products.

School Lacrosse Highlights
Pipeline to
College -
SMS Lacrosse is committed togetting our
players recruited to play college lacrosse. Since our
inception we have accomplished this without fail as 100% of
the players have gotten that phone call and/or letter. Our
complete focus is on teaching the skills, character assets,
and tools necessary to make the jump from HS to college.
Through our over 40 years of combined lacrosse experience at
the college HS and international lavel our coaching staff is
well prepared to make your lacrosse dreams come true. We
have developed a network of college coaches that seek our
players out and want our players at their school. Our
success has earned us inclusion in some of the most
exclusive recruiting events in the country. We take
advantage of this opportunity by talking to coaches and
sharing information on you at every game. The reason any HS
player steps on the field with SMS are because they want to
play in college and we can make that happen.

Our players have feed into St. Mary’s Annapolis, The
Calverton School, McNamara, Ryken, Calvert, Patuxent,
Southern HS, South River, Huntingtown, Northern, and Wootten…
etc.

everything is not a cheap venture, but we believe that the
investment in the SMS lacrosse experience is well worth it.
Your return will be the development of your child’s game to
the level you could not imagine as well as for the HS elite
player the creation of the pipeline to college coaches with
continued year long support in the recruiting process.
Total cost to
compete on our HS Developmental Team: $550 includes 3 summer
events, team gear (gloves, jersey, shorts, shirt), and the
opportunity to be selected for the fall events.
Total cost to
compete for HS Elite team: $1450 includes 4 summer events
(including 2 over night camps with room and board) team gear
(gloves, jersey, shorts, shirt), coaching, insurance and
everything else you need to compete at the highest level.
Fall events are an additional fee. The team for fall events
will be selected following the summer season and be the best
27 players available from the HS Elite and HS Developmental
teams.
